In a world where immorality and sin are commonplace, we need to stay true to our beliefs and maintain our high standards. As Mormons, our values are always in question and under attack. We have an obligation to ourselves to stay true to those key principles so we can return to Heaven.
It is not always easy to choose the right. Choosing the right is sometimes shunned upon by those who are trying to lead you away from your high values. Choosing the right is more than just a gospel principle, it is part of the plan of happiness. If we choose the right, we will be happy.
As stated above, it is not always easy to choose the right. Part of that is remembering to choose the right. We often get caught up in life and forget what is most important. We need a constant reminder to keep our thoughts and actions in the right.
There are many ways to remind yourself to always choose the right. The best way to remember to choose the right is to wear it. A CTR ring acts as a constant reminder to always choose the right.
Choosing the right CTR ring is important. If you do not like your CTR ring, you will not wear it. If you like it though, you will always wear it. There are many CTR ring options out there that you may not know where to begin. How about this? Start with tungsten CTR rings.
Tungsten CTR rings are beautiful and last for years. They will not bend or scratch quickly like most CTR rings. Get yourself a tungsten CTR ring and always remember to choose the right.
I serve in the Young Women’s in my ward. Every week, I spend a significant amount of time with girls 12-18 teaching them gospel principles. Not a lesson or activity goes by where we don’t talk about choosing the right and making good choices for the future. In Personal Progress, weekly activities, and Sunday lessons, it’s our responsibility as adults to teach the youth to choose the right…now and in the future.
Recently, I’ve noticed a lot of the girls wearing CTR rings. I wondered if wearing their rings day in and day out helped them to make good choices. Did they remember their ring at school? When faced with a tough decision? When hanging out with their friends? So, I asked the girls, “What does your CTR ring mean to you?” Here’s a sampling of the responses I got.
From Ashley, age 17:
“I really like my CTR Ring because to me it’s a way to keep me clean. It reminds me to choose the right. I really like to wear my CTR ring everyday so I see it all the time. It’s something that can make the difference between keeping a clean state or not. My friends know that I wear a CTR ring, so they never question what kind of movie we’ll watch or if we’ll cheat on a test. They know my answer will always be the same…to choose the right. “
From Kristi, age 12:
“I got my first CTR ring in Primary. I’ve always worn it because it’s a daily reminder of what I committed to at baptism. One day I want to get married in the temple. I know I can’t go there unless I make the right choices.”
From Makayla, age 14:
“When we first moved to our new house, I was kind of mad because I didn’t want to move and make new friends. The first people I met when I moved here weren’t exactly the type of friends I should have. I was wearing my CTR ring one day when I decided that I shouldn’t hang out with these people. I needed friends who would help me choose the right. Even though it was hard because I was the new girl in school, I wanted to make good choices.”
Wearing a CTR ring can help the youth in the Church make good choices every day. You never know what situation you’ll be placed in or when you’ll need to make the right choice. Make choosing the right easy by wearing a CTR ring every day.
I was listening to a morning radio show not too long ago. One caller who phoned in stated that he was ‘sort of’ Mormon and continued on to explain what being ‘sort of’ Mormon meant, not following all of the commandments and living the gospel on his own terms rather than following the strait and narrow path.
Being ‘sort of’ Mormon makes it easy for you to justify the wrong things you do and try to make them right. This lasts as long as you let it. You create a temporary happiness for yourself.
Eventually, your ‘sort of’ Mormon attitude will catch up to you. Eventually, you will have to deal with the consequences of your actions and that is not fun. In fact, it is one of the worst feelings ever. You will not be happy.
Being ‘all the way’ Mormon is the best way to go. Living the gospel fully and choosing the right will keep you on the strait and narrow way. But sometimes you forget and soon you can become ‘sort of’ Mormon and become lackadaisical in your righteous ways. You need a constant reminder to stay ‘all the way’ Mormon.
A very good way to stay ‘all the way’ Mormon is to wear a CTR ring. A CTR ring will help you remember your values and stay focused on what is most important. Not just any CTR ring will do.
Only a tungsten CTR ring will last for years and maintain its brilliance, so you’ll want to wear it! If you always want to wear your CTR ring, you will always remember to choose the right. Get a tungsten CTR ring that will be beautiful forever and do not be a ‘sort of’ Mormon.
I’ve always loved the song “Choose the Right” (LDS Hymns, 239). There’s one particular verse that always catches me a little off guard, even though I know what’s coming. “Choose the right, when a choice is placed before you. Choose the right, there’s safety for the soul.” Those are pretty powerful words…”There’s safety for the soul.” In this world where every time we turn on the TV or just walk outside of our front door we are faced with fear and wickedness, it’s nice to be reassured that when we make the right choices, we will be safe.
I have two nephews, 5 and 3. They are so fun and vivacious. The little guys were visiting at my house not long ago and I noticed the 5-year-old was wearing a ring. I looked closer and I saw that it was a CTR ring. I asked Cameron about his new ring and he told me, beaming, “Jen, this is my CTR ring. It helps me to choose the right.” And he’s right. That little piece of jewelry can help us to make the right choices and to navigate our path in this life.
After that day with my nephews, I started thinking about my own life and the choices I’ve made. I’m convinced that one decision I made in the 7th grade, that one decision to not go with my friends after school to drink wine coolers, made all the difference in my life. I’ve thought often about the day I was faced with a choice to stray from my values and follow the crowd. I distinctly remember looking at my hands, seeing my pink CTR ring, and then having the courage to say, “No thanks.” That day, I not only walked away from a dangerous situation, but I walked away from my friends. That one decision to choose the right changed the entire course of my life.
We no longer have to wear those cheap silver and green CTR rings we got in Primary. We can upgrade our CTR rings to match our adult lives. A Tungsten CTR ring is strong. It never bends and it never scratches. Isn’t that such a great analogy for choosing the right…”never bending, never scratching.” When we wear a Tungsten CTR ring to help us stay true to our values, we will shine just like the beautiful piece of jewelry on our finger.
I’ve thought a lot about my interaction with Cameron that day as he told me about his CTR ring and I’ve come to the conclusion that the hymn “Choose the Right” is dead on. There is safety for our souls when we make the right choices and choose to stay close to our values.
Tiger Woods’ fiasco of a personal life has been blasted across the news, Internet and everywhere in between. His life is one of many that has been overtaken by the temptations of immorality. It is now common to hear about people’s infidelities. Immorality is an epidemic that causes hurt and anguish.
What is society missing? Society is missing that happiness is not a monetary issue and cannot be found in immoral, criminal or other such acts. Happiness comes from choosing the right.
Society and its fads have made people forget that choosing the right creates happiness. How then do we remember to choose the right so we can be happy?
Wearing a CTR ring is a beautiful and stylish way to remember to always choose the right. A CTR ring acts as a constant, gentle reminder to choose the right and be happy. Not just any CTR ring can handle this crucial assignment.
A tungsten CTR ring can do the job. A tungsten CTR ring will stay beautiful and maintain its brilliance for years. It will not bend into some funny shape around your finger. Tungsten will not scratch and get ugly. A tungsten CTR ring will shine so brightly on your finger that you will never forget to choose the right.
Don’t end up like Tiger and so many others who are succumbing the moral corruption that is our society. Get a tungsten CTR ring and wear it always. Never forget to choose the right and always be happy.
